Wondering what on earth you and your friends should do after work this week?

Secret Life1

Don’t stress!   This Girl Friday has the perfect solution…

After full houses for its opening season last week, the quirky new cabaret The Secret Life of a Secretary is back by popular demand for two final performances this week.

Dynamic young artist Claire De Freitas, a graduate of the Creating Solo Cabaret course, is spilling the secrets of what goes on in those office cubicles and behind those corporate doors.   Funny, feisty and full of all the gossip we’ve been dying to know, this Friday and Saturday night will be your last chance to see this highly popular show this year!

From audience sales last week, we know these tickets won’t be available for long…

So call your work friends, clear your schedule, kick off your high heels and hang up your suit jacket, and book fast!

After-work drinks and a great night out of music and laughs?   Now, that’s something to smile about after a long day in the office…!

The Secret Life Of A Secretary: A Quirky New Cabaret

PAs, receptionists, admin staff and office workers of the world unite!

You have nothing to lose, but… all that job stress this week when you laugh it all off with your colleagues in this great theatre night out!

We all know what really goes on in a corporate office – the backstabbing, the romance, the dramas…   Finally, here’s one secretary who isn’t afraid to talk (and even sing) about it!

The Secret Life of a Secretary
The Secret Life of a Secretary

Melbourne performer Claire de Freitas is springing straight out of the most recent Creating Solo Cabaret course and into her own feisty, frazzled and funny look at life in the corporate world.   This new and quirky debut show isn’t afraid to open the office briefcase and poke fun at all the crazy, cheeky, sexy things that go on behind the water cooler, under the business suits, and on those boardroom tables…

Turn off the work pager, slip off the high heels, unbutton the power jacket, and sit back with Miss Byrd as The Office meets Sex and the City for your chance to enjoy glamour, gossip – and one hell of a lunch break!

From the 2007-2009 graduates…

“I’ve always wanted to do a course about putting on a cabaret show but I didn’t imagine that it would be so successful on a personal level.”

“Most courses don’t live up to expectations, but this one exceeded them.”

“I found the course to be very useful and user friendly.   I particularly enjoyed and appreciated working with Kim, drawing upon her vast skill and knowledge of the genre, and of the mechanics of writing, scripting, and executing a show.   Awesome.”

“A brilliant course for everyone who wants to do a cabaret show.”

CABARET TURNS DEADLY

Australia’s first ‘choose your own adventure’ cabaret debuts in Melbourne… and it’s not for the faint of heart.

After directing professional cabaret and theatre for nearly a decade, Play Right Theatre founder Kim Edwards has channelled her dark side and finally released a long-time pet project of her own on the stage.

Edwards’ previous credits include children’s drama classes and Theatre In Education work, but it will be adults only when In The Dead Of Night: A Cult Show is let loose at The Butterfly Club in all its gothic, grotesque, and darkly funny glory.

“This is the product of my perverse pen and the dark recesses of my twisted mind” explained the lady herself, whose witty new work explores three lives at stake in a dangerous murder mystery, rife with black humour and suspense.

A major twist to this late night cult show is the uncertainty of its own cast members as to each story climax. Every evening, the audience are given control over the fate of the characters in ‘choose your own adventure’ style, meaning every performance is completely unique, and the possibilities are endless.

Three will finally meet,
Two will finally know.

One will certainly die…

Let the fun begin!
